Blythe having her litter of babies on August 20 2005. In all she had 7 babies. Nick from our mouse kids page is one of these tiny pinkies. She did very well during the birth and caring for them afterwards.
Blythe had had her first 2 babies when I noticed she was in labor. She did not mind my watching or the flash so I remained.
In between babies she would clean and start to nurse the ones already born. She continues to nurse them even as contractions start in again as seen in the last photo in this row.
She checks on the progress of ones being delivered and helps them the rest of the way out as she cleans off the uterine sac. Early on Verona was trying to help sit on the babies but Blythe kicked her away.
More photos of her cleaning babies, nursing babies through contractions and also eating placenta (which they do for many reasons one being it helps to keep them in labor while they deliver the entire litter)
More of the same. She repeats basically the same process with each baby and in between birthing one and waiting for the next one to arrive she nurses.
Here are the last shots of her cleaning off the 7th baby born then sitting pretty nursing them all after the ordeal was over.
